2011 Holiday Season
The holiday season is the most significant time of the year for our elders, as loneliness is often felt most acutely during this time. Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly stays in close connection with elders during the holidays and also provides visits on Christmas Day so that they do not feel alone.
You can help.
There are a number of ways you can help ensure elders in San Francisco do not feel alone during the holidays:
- Join the Not Alone! Campaign: You can share your love with a lonely elder by donating $50 to cover the cost of a personal visit, gift and meal for one elder during the holidays. We want to provide 1,000 visits to lonely elders this holiday season – a $40,000 goal! This is a great gift idea – and can be made In Honor or In Memory of a loved one. See the Not Alone! Campaign page for more details.
- Volunteer to visit with an elder on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Day.
- Volunteer to come into the office after work/on a Saturday to make calls to elders (to find out their needs for the holidays).
- Join our budding social network by clicking the “Like” button on our Facebook page.
- Share your experience on Yelp.
- Get your friends and family to join you – and bond together knowing you’re making a positive difference in the life of a lonely elder.
