Visiting Volunteer Program-Help us Combat Lonliness.

Did you know that prolonged loneliness and isolation can have health impacts equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day? Join us in the fight to help older adults in San Francisco.

The Visiting Volunteer Program aims to provide long-term companionship to isolated older adults, including those with disabilities, enabling them to age in place with a strong social network. For 32 years, we have connected diverse clients across multiple generations.

Here’s what some of our participants have to say about the program:

“We have a nice friendship, you know? I’m glad of that. LBFE has introduced me to different people and it’s helped me in a big way. I don’t feel alone or lonely like I was before and I appreciate that very much.”

“I think it’s a nice program. We’ve been matched for 3 or 4 years now and it’s nice to have that shared history with someone.”

Shannon has become like my sister. We’re friends. You are the best organization in America.

We are seeking volunteers who can commit to visiting an older adult twice a month for six months to build lasting friendships.
